Help! America and democracy are dying! Independent (lovely and practical) Maine is being pulled down with them.

Only three years ago, we were living contentedly along side our immigrants, who were working, paying taxes and joining our communities. We had health care. Our education was supported, from Head Start to university. We were helping to feed the hungry and poor. Our streets were safe. We were not at war. We were not attacking mysterious boats. We were not attacking countries to get their oil. We were not renaming important institutions after our current president, who had nothing to do with their establishment. We were not taking down important historical buildings. We were safe on our streets. Crime was lessening in our cities.

Now, so many important supports in our society are being destroyed or threatened. Our government is taking our tax dollars to break down our peaceful and protected lives. Why?
Is the government working to improve our lives? We are now less safe, due to ICE, DHS and the state National Guards, called in by the president. Our support systems are being taken away.

Why? What has changed: Trump. Miller. Vought. Project 2025. And, unquestioning congressional Republicans.

America and democracy are being destroyed by a handful of politicians and their advisors! They seem to be working in hate of our country and its citizens, rather than patriotic duty.
