HALLOWELL – Richard Dore, 89, of Granite Hill Estates, Hallowell, died Feb. 4, 2026 after a brief illness.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1936, in Bowdoinham, to Reginald and Bernice Berozsky Dore.
Richie was predeceased by his wife, Edith Philbrick Dore; father, Reginald Dore, mother, Bernice Berozsky Dore; and sister, Eleanor Dore Brann.
Richie was a member of Rural Lodge No, 53 A.F.A.M. of Sidney and the American Legion Post #2 of Augusta.
He served in the Army Paratroopers from 1953-1956 as a Sergeant with the 11th Airborne Division, the 82nd Airborne Division and the 107th Ranger outfit.
He attended Richmond School. After his discharge from the service, he was employed by the State Police as a mechanic and the State Bureau of Alcohol Beverages as Carpenter Foreman. He retired from the State in September 1993.
Richie and his wife, Edie, lived the greatest retirement life in Kingsbury Plantation. They lived off the grid and met some wonderful people in this area. One special couple is George and Keri.
Richie married his wife, Edith, on April 11, 1958. Edie had passed away on July 15, 2023.
He is survived by daughters Deborah and husband Wade Drake and Katherine and husband Bruce Trask. He had five grandchildren, Heather, Jenna and Ashlee (Deborah) and Derek and Nicole (Katherine). There are great-grandchildren, Kai, Kristopher, Haley, Christian and Maxwell. It is important to mention that he is survived by many special nieces and nephews that he held close to his heart. His special Boston Terrier, BUDDY, will miss him forever.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Granite Hill Estates and the doctors, nurses and caretakers of 300 North at the VA Togus Hospital.
A joint burial for Richie and Edie will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Augusta at a future date. At their request, there will be no special gathering.
