Valley High graduate Cody Laweryson on Friday agreed to a minor-league deal with an invitation to spring training with the Minnesota Twins, according to published reports.

Laweryson, a 27-year-old right-handed reliever, made his major league debut with the Twins on Sept. 13 and pitched in five games for Minnesota, going 0-1 with a 1.17 ERA in 7 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter.

Laweryson was drafted by the Twins in the 14th round in 2019. He made 55 appearances in three seasons at the University of Maine, including 19 starts.

He was picked up off waivers by the Los Angeles Angels on Nov. 6 and released by the Angels earlier this month.

Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star-Tribune was the first to report the news.
