Yarmouth’s Nordic boys skiing turned in a dominant performance Tuesday to successfully defend its Class B title, and the Freeport girls also prevailed for the second straight year — this time in Class A — on the final day of the state championships in Fort Kent.
Yarmouth swept the top four places in the Class B freestyle pursuit, led by Alexander Gordon, who added a second individual title to his classical victory on Monday. In Class A girls, Lucy Huggett of Freeport finished with a combined time of 37:21.1, beating teammate Amelia Prince by just over a minute. Emma Price of Portland was the only other Class A girl within three minutes of Huggett. Laurel Wright (eighth) and Hope Werner (ninth) rounded out the scoring for the Falcons, who ended Mt. Blue’s five-year championship streak.
Freeport (784), the Class B champion in 2025, had a 42-point margin over Falmouth. Oxford Hills (738) and Mt. Blue (733) placed third and fourth.
All six skiers who were victorious in Monday’s classical races also took home pursuit titles.
In Class B girls, Evelyn Lacasse and Rowan Barry finished 1-2 for Greely, leading the Rangers to their second team title in three years. Barry had the fastest freestyle time, but Lacasse’s combined time of 36:59.0 was 25 seconds faster. Emma Graves of Caribou, Ida Waterman of Gray-New Gloucester and Haley Marston of Leavitt rounded out the Class B girls top five.

Clara White of Orono dominated in Class C for the second straight day. Her combined time of 32:10.2 was nearly eight minutes faster than runner-up Addison Chase of Fort Kent, and nearly five minutes better than any girl in the other classes.
In the team competition, Waynflete (767) edged five-time defending champion Fort Kent (765) and Maine Coast Waldorf (761), led by third-place finisher Nyssa Wilkinson. Naomi Rice (ninth), Gemma Morris (11th), Audrey Winch (14th) and Porter MacElhiney (15th) also placed in the top 15 for the Flyers.
Fryeburg Academy dethroned four-time champion Mt. Blue in Class A boys, placing four skiers among the top nine in pursuit. They were followed by Brunswick’s Daire Woodruff, Falmouth’s Clayton Hickey and Messlonskee’s Lexington Cote.
