Maddox Cuddy hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 40 seconds left, and Forest Hills held on for a 64-60 win over Pine Tree Academy in a Class S South boys basketball semifinal Tuesday at the Augusta Civic Center. 

The third-seeded Tigers (14-6) will face top-seeded Valley in the regional final at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. 

Pine Tree (13-5), the No. 2 seed, had a chance to tie it, but Colby Solberg’s 3-pointer didn’t fall. Rory Danforth hit a foul shot for Forest Hills to make it a four-point game.

Jaxson Desjardins and Aaden Nadeau each scored 23 points for Forest Hills. Cuddy finished with 10. 

Rhett Tyson led Pine Tree with 26 points. Lucky Kabeya scored 11 before fouling out in the fourth quarter. 

VALLEY 72, ISLESBORO 44: The top-seeded Cavaliers (18-2) jumped on the fourth-seeded Eagles (9-8) from the get-go in a Class S South semifinal at the Augusta Civic Center.

Valley led 16-8 after one quarter and 38-18 at halftime.

Harry Louis led the Cavaliers with 19 points. Levi Short added 18 points and 10 rebounds, Collin Nichols chipped in with 13 points, and Fisher Tewksbury recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Islesboro’s Harper Conover scored 15 points. Ryder Durkee finished with 11.

GIRLS

VALLEY 60, TEMPLE ACADEMY 22: The top-seeded Cavaliers (19-1) held the fourth-seeded Bereans (10-8) to one point in the third quarter and cruised to a semifinal win at the Augusta Civic Center.

Valley outscored Temple 16-1 in the third.

The Cavaliers advance to the regional final and will play No. 2 Forest Hills at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Liana Hartwell scored 12 of her 18 points in the first quarter as Valley took a 13-7 lead. Delia Hill added 19 points.

Maddie Corey scored eight points for Temple.

FOREST HILLS 42, VINALHAVEN 30: The second-seeded Tigers (16-4) took control in the second and third quarters to defeat the third-seeded Vikings (15-5) in a Class S South semifinal.

Forest Hills trailed 9-1 after the first quarter before going on a 10-5 run in the second. Janessa Moffitt scored eight points in the third quarter and the Tigers took a 25-20 lead into the fourth.

Moffitt and Kelsey Rancourt each recorded 18 points in the game.

Aubriana Hausinger scored 11 points for Vinalhaven.
