Karma Young Lombard
FARMINGDALE – Karma Young Lombard passed away early Sunday morning, Feb. 8, 2026, due to a rapidly progressing illness. She was surrounded by family and friends and an immense amount of love.
Karma was born on the winter equinox of 1975 to first time parents Richard and Jennifer Young. She grew up wild and free in the woods of Whitefield, along with her younger brother Matt, and family friends the Biswell boys. Karma followed the family tradition and went to high school at Hall-Dale High. While there, she made artwork and lifelong friends.
After high school, Karma met the love of her life, Benjamin R. Lombard. Together they raised two children, Eric Alfred Lombard and Gwenivere Dorothy Lombard. Karma and Ben’s love was second to none, and they cherished each other dearly. Theirs was a storybook sort of love that everyone wishes for. As their favorite movie Princess Bride said: “Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five that were rated the most passionate, the most pure.” Theirs was one of those.
Relationships were important to Karma. She called her mom every day, and they liked to share dinner together. Her children were precious to her. Karma had friendships that lasted decades and traversed states. She and her friends Zoey Spahn, and Thazra-Rosie Hylton raised their children together for many years. She easily connected with people over food, shopping, hair, shared interests and sorrows. Karma had a laugh that filled the room.
Karma loved living in the Farmingdale home that formerly belonged to her grandparents, where she raised her kids, chickens, and gardens. Her baked goods were the stuff of legend, and you could always find her in the kitchen cooking another batch of jam or preparing veggies from her garden. She always had a loaf of bread, a jar of jam, or a batch of brownies to share.
Karma was an avid reader who could be counted on to point you in the right direction of a good read. Karma was also a big fan of professional wrestling. In her youth, she wrote a letter requesting that the World Wrestling Federation come to Maine, and when they held an event in Augusta that year, they gave her tickets. Karma sparked her family’s interest, and Gwen’s enthusiasm for wrestling came to rival her mom’s.
Karma’s many good friends at the Maine Bureau of Insurance, Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, across state government and beyond will miss her dearly. She was a founding member of the Bureau’s Morale Boosters Committee, organizing and facilitating all of the Bureau’s team building activities and charitable donation drives. With over twenty years of dedication to her work, she took great pride in her role as Office Manager at the Bureau. She especially cherished her coworkers, and many of them became close friends outside of work as well- celebrating and adventuring with Karma and rallying around her and her family through challenging times.
Karma was predeceased by her husband Ben and her father Richard.
She is survived by her children Eric and Gwen Lombard, mother Jennifer Young, brother Matthew Young and family, mother and father-in-law Dorothy and Rick Lombard, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was loved dearly, really, really dearly. She will be greatly missed.
Karma’s family will hold a Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 22 from 12- 3 p.m., at the Loudon Hill Center, 330 Water Street, Hallowell.
