AUGUSTA — Times for Friday’s regional high school basketball championship games in Augusta, Bangor and Portland were changed Thursday by the Maine Prinicipals’ Association because of a forecast for snow Friday evening.
The Class A North girls final in Augusta and Class B North girls final in Bangor will now begin at 5 p.m., followed by boys finals at 6:45 p.m. In Portland, the Class B South games at the Expo were moved to 2 p.m. (girls) and 3:45 p.m. (boys).
The B North games in Bangor feature the No. 1 Gardiner girls (19-1) against the third-seeded Lawrence (15-5). The third-seeded Gardiner (17-3) boys then face rival Cony (18-2), the No. 1 seed. In Augusta, the No. 1 Mt. Ararat girls (19-1) play No. 2 Hampden Academy (16-4), and the top-ranked Camden Hills boys (19-1) take on No. 3 Brunswick (16-4).
In B South, the region’s top two seeds, No. 1 Gray-New Gloucester and No. 2 Oceanside, are set to meet in a clash of 19-1 teams. Second-seeded Medomak Valley (17-3) plays No. 4 Yarmouth (16-4) in the boys game.
