Josh Nadeau scored twice in the first period and completed a hat trick with an empty-net goal that clinched Maine’s 5-3 victory over Merrimack in a men’s Hockey East game Friday night in Orono.
Nadeau also assisted on a second-period goal by Sully Scholle, who finished with a goal and two assists. Oskar Komarov snapped a 3-3 tie with an unassisted goal early in the third period.
Mathis Rousseau made 19 saves for the Black Bears (15-12-3, 9-10-1 Hockey East), who were 0-3-1 in their previous four games.
Mark Hillier, Caelan Fitzpatrick and Justin Gill scored for Merrimack (15-14-1, 8-11-1).
