PITTSFIELD – Edmond J. Morancie Jr., “EJ”, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026 at his home in Pittsfield at the age of 82. His loving wife of 50 years, Christine Morancie, was by his side.
He was born in Trenton, N.J. on Jan. 13, 1944. He was the only son of Edmond J. Morancie Sr. and his wife Mary. Edmond attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from MCI in 1961.
Edmond was a proud service member during the Vietnam War and retired from the State of Maine in 2006. His retirement years were the highlight of his life, since he was able to attend all the sports games, music concerts and various events his granddaughters participated in. He was incredibly proud of them and loved them dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Loretta and her husband Don; and his Uncle Andy and Aunt Bea.
EJ is survived by wife, Christine; daughters Kate McCarron and Stephani Morancie; granddaughters Alahna and Abbi McCarron and their significant others; his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Rick Giallombardo; his nephews Jeff and Scott Giallombardo and their families; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Richard Neal; and sister-in-law, Penny Bennett and her family.
EJ, aka “Bump” or “Bumpa”, adored and was adored by his granddaughters and their friends. While he could come across as a crotchety old man, he really enjoyed being accompanied by his family, eating hot dogs, and just spending quality time with those he loved. He was always game for any activity that involved his granddaughters, including water gun fights, kick ball, mini-golf, and farkle.
He will always be known by the family as someone who collected any items that resembled a flamingo, mostly as a running joke from his family because he really did not like those salmon pink birds. He always loved a good joke and was always there to sit and listen, even if they had to speak really loudly. His favorite holiday was Christmas (especially when he got underwear and socks), where he was surrounded by family, and his second favorite holiday was one where good food was served.
He was very loved and will be sorely missed. While he may not have realized it, he had a big impact on everyone who loved him.
EJ requested that no funeral be held, but a Celebration of Life will be scheduled during nice weather for family and friends to remember him. Hot dogs, potato salad, and coleslaw will be served.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Northern Light Home Care and Hospice and Lafayette Family Cancer Institute for their professionalism and excellent care.
