Ernest “Ernie” Eugene Bryant
PITTSFIELD – Ernest “Ernie” Eugene Bryant of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2026, in Augusta, surrounded by family.
Ernie was born on Jan. 16, 1937, to Leon Bryant and Maude (Raymond) Bryant. Ernie was one of seven children, Minnie Kimball, Orissa Prescott, Phylis Achipette, Maxine Chapman, Merton Chapman, and James Bryant.
Ernie left behind a son, Leon Bryant, and a stepson, Wayne. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Jess Bryant, and many “adopted” children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ernie assisted in raising many children; he had a heart of gold and was always helping someone.
He was an industrious man who always kept his hands busy. As a child, his favorite activity was working beside his father and later on at a sawmill. He loved playing cards, dancing, music, puzzles, traveling, and socializing with the community.
Ernie found love again in Joan Bowley; they were two peas in a pod, you would rarely see one without the other. One of Ernie’s proudest accomplishments was being a part of the Elks Lodge #2713 in Pittsfield. He had a large sense of community pride; he could be seen raising money for many different causes.
Ernie will be remembered for his devilish smile, expressive eyebrows, jokes, and his larger-than-life hugs.
Please join us to celebrate Ernest Bryant and the legacy he left behind. The celebration of life will be held at the Elks Lodge #2713 in Pittsfield, on March 22 at 2 p.m. This will be a potluck, so feel free to bring a dish. Please wear your Sunday best as Ernie always looked dashing in a suit and tie. We look forward to sharing and hearing cherished memories.
