Benjamin Franklin wrote: “Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” In Europe, government ministers are losing their jobs because of the Epstein files … but American leaders get a free pass?
As the father of two girls, and the grandfather to two more, I am outraged at the way the Epstein documents have been released. Victims’ names are not redacted but the names perpetrators are redacted. The perpetrators, regardless of party affiliation, must be identified and suffer consequences for their actions. A president who says, “America needs to move on from this issue” is clearly not concerned about justice.
The Constitution starts with the phrase “We the People…”
The “people” have begun to express their feelings in Maine, Minnesota and elsewhere. Let us continue moving forward. I am asking people to write a letter or email each week to our congressional representatives.
There are many challenges facing our nation; they can seem overwhelming. Remember what was in the bottom of Pandora’s box; it was hope. Helen Keller spoke about hope as “seeing the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible.”
I hope that all Mainers will join me.
