Madeline Tice Marson

ATHENS – Madeline Tice Marson, 89, went home to be with the Lord, Jan. 29, 2026, at home with her family by her side. She was born in Newark, NJ, August 24, 1936, the daughter of the late Guy and Angelina Carter.

She grew up in New Jersey where she met and married Charles Tice, June 8, 1953. They moved to Maine in 1964. They bought a home in Athens where they lived and raised a family together until Charles’ passing in August 1989.

Madeline loved to sew, making wedding dresses and clothes for many people. She was well known for the burp cloths she made for her great grandchildren. She also loved to knit. Madeline loved to talk and reminisce about her younger years and so many people she has known through the years. She loved spending time with her family.

Madeline was a founding member of the Church of the Open Bible in Athens where

she served in many different capacities, she also taught at the Christian school there. She worked as a bank teller at Key Bank in Skowhegan for many years before retiring.

She married Arthur (Gene) Marson on April 21, 2000, and lived in Palmyra with him until his passing in December 2023. Madeline had returned to Athens to live in May 2025.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Heidi Tice Seekins and her granddaughter

Harvest Campbell Larsen and sister-in-law Joan Carter.

Madeline is survived by a brother Thomas Carter of Saco and a sister Betty Pomerleau and husband Maurice of Harmony and sister-in law Shirley Marson of Pittsfield; daughter Holly Tice Sinclair and husband Daniel of Harmony, sons, Roger Tice and wife Kathy of Waupaca, Wis., David Tice and wife Cindy of Athens, Maine, Richard Tice and wife Nancy of Waupaca, Wis., son-in-law Scott Seekins of St. Albans; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held June 14 at 11 a.m. at the Mount Rest Cemetery, Athens Maine.
