Five state finalists are ranked in the latest Varsity Maine girls basketball poll. Cheverus has been the top-ranked team in every poll this winter and is the unanimous No. 1 for the sixth straight week after battling its way through the Class A South tournament.

B South champion Oceanside moved from sixth to third in the rankings, while A North champ Hampden jumped from 10th to fourth.

The other two state finalists are either rejoining the rankings or are ranked for the first time. Lawrence, which was ranked in the first to polls of the season, went from unranked in the most recent poll to sixth after claiming the B North title. No. 10 Spruce Mountain is ranked for the first time following a dominant showing in the C South tournament.

The Varsity Maine girls basketball poll is based on games played before Feb. 24, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
