At a time when many candidates avoid unscripted exchanges or limit themselves to friendly audiences, Troy Jackson has challenged Bobby Charles to a debate to discuss contentious issues such as law enforcement, crime, drugs, immigration and ICE enforcement.
Troy Jackson is an unrelenting advocate for the working class. He understands the challenges facing Maine communities, small business owners and working families. By challenging a Republican to a debate during primary season he is signaling that every voter, even those who do not typically identify as a Democrat, deserves to hear a full and honest discussion of the issues before they vote in the June primaries. This is not about the right or the left, it is about the people of Maine.
This willingness to both challenge and engage those who might not agree with him on all issues — to bring them into the conversation — is an example of democracy at work. It is the leadership we desperately need. I am proud to support Troy Jackson for governor.
