St. Joseph’s College trailed by 17 points at halftime and couldn’t rally, losing to Emmanuel 73-64 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s basketball championship game on Sunday in Standish.
No. 1 Emmanuel improves to 22-6 and earns the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament. The second-seeded Monks, who had a 10-game winning streak snapped, fall to 17-11.
The tournament bracket will be announced at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Shea Canavan scored 20 points to lead Emmanuel, which led 22-18 after the first quarter and 37-20 at the half. Lia Krumian added 14 points, while Tyra Blye and Megan Reilly each added 10.
Logan Brown led St. Joseph’s with 20 points. Madison Lebel was the only other Monk in double figures with 14.
