Things seem to be going south in our splendid little war. Service people killed, planes shot down, Israel invading Lebanon, oil prices up, tankers avoiding the region, worldwide long-distance air traffic disrupted, stock market down, countries throughout the Middle East attacked. So much winning, I don’t know if we can stand it.

President Trump has gone back to his outer borough New York mob boss roots; this is a hit job to take out competition in his “territory.” It’s not personal, it’s business. Except it’s not.

In many ways, we have no one to blame but ourselves. We could see what was happening with the new “Department of War.” We did nothing. We saw the illegal blowing up of vessels and killings in the Caribbean. We did nothing. We saw the illegal invasion of Venezuela and did nothing. We heard the drum beats about invading Greenland. Pass a war powers resolution? Not us. Didn’t want to hurt Donald’s feelings.

Only the Europeans had the fortitude to say “make my day” and he backed down. So, here we are, wherever that is. Trump says he won’t end the war until his goal and ambitions are met. Unfortunately, he has not revealed them to us. For a guy who has been so chatty lately — from promoting his ballroom, the horrible Bad Bunny show, to his new line of watches — there is now silence. Crickets.

So, like punch drunk fighters, we fight on — with no objective or destination, rudderless.
