BANGOR — Maddie Provost of Lawrence and Nolan Ames of Camden Hills were named Miss and Mr. Basketball, respectively, at the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches awards banquet Friday.

Provost, who will be playing NCAA Division I basketball at Holy Cross next season, averaged 27.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists this season. She was the KVAC Class A North Player of the Year in 2023-24 and received both KVAC B North and MaxPreps Maine Player of the Year honors this season.

Lawrence was dominant during Provost’s four years, going 74-11. As a freshman, she came off the bench to score 16 points in the Class A state final win over Brunswick. This season, Lawrence broke through again, with Provost and fellow senior Ashley Shores leading the way.

The other Miss Maine finalists were Kylie Lamson of Cheverus and Addison Cyr of Mattanawcook Academy.

Ames averaged 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists for Class A North champion Camden Hills. He was named KVAC A North Player of the Year last season and the KVAC Class A Player of the Year this season. Like Provost, he is also the MaxPreps Maine Player of the Year.

Edward Little’s Akol Maiwen and Windham’s Tyrie James were the other Mr. Maine finalists.

Mr. and Miss Maine Basketball are given each year to the state’s top senior players.

Provost joins Cindy Blodgett (1994) and Nia Irving (2016) as Lawrence players to win Miss Maine Basketball. Ames is the second winner from Camden Hills, following Tyler McFarland in 2011.
