Noah Gibbs scored twice in the second period, and Endicott won the Conference of New England men’s hockey championship Saturday with a 2-1 victory over the University of New England at Alfond Forum in Biddeford.
A third-period power-play goal from Drew Olivieri wasn’t enough for top-seeded UNE (21-6), which now needs an at-large bid to reach the NCAA Division III tournament for the sixth time in eight seasons. The Nor’easters are ranked No. 5 in the USCHO.com poll.
Peter Sterling made 24 saves for seventh-ranked Endicott (21-3-3), which earned the conference’s automatic NCAA bid. UNE goalie Harrison Chesney stopped 20 shots.
