PALMYRA – Rebecca Susan Bucchiere,74, fondly known as Becky or Beck, born Feb. 6, 1952, in Belfast, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. A resident of Palmyra, Rebecca was known for her adventurous spirit, her love of family, and her unique and captivating presence. Her love for travel was unparalleled, always ready for a new adventure at the drop of a hat. She was a frequent companion to a dear correspondent, who often whisked her away on spontaneous trips and generously opened her home to Rebecca.

In her early years, Rebecca enjoyed spending time at her father’s restaurant, Joe’s Pizza in Gardiner. She was particularly fond of sneaking pickles and other condiments from the kitchen, a memory that brought her joy and laughter in later years. She dedicated much of her time to volunteering at Spirits, a shelter for homeless cats, demonstrating her deep love for animals. Rebecca joined the SKILLS family in 2009, bringing a lively and unforgettable presence to the home. She was known for her transparency, humor, and tenacity. Her love for shopping, dining out, monthly lunches with her guardian and spending time by the lake with a cup of coffee was only surpassed by her love for cats, particularly her beloved Butterscotch and Luna. Her love for celebrations, especially Christmas and her birthday, was infectious, lighting up the room with her joyous spirit.

Rebecca was an individual who made her mark on the world, leaving an unforgettable impression on everyone she met. Her authenticity, unapologetic honesty, and humor shaped the lives of those around her in the most meaningful of ways. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Esteena (Gould) Bucchiere, and her grandmother Alice Gould who raised her.

Becky is survived by two close cousins Danny and Angie Chapman and Greg and Lois Chapman, along with several other cousins and friends.

Visiting hours for Becky will be held from 2-4 p.m., on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner. A spring graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner.
