Kenneth Wilson Paul

AUGUSTA – Kenneth Wilson Paul, 65, a lifelong Augusta resident, passed away at his home on Feb. 25, 2026. A dedicated worker who loved to stay busy, Ken was a familiar face in the community from his many years at Irving, the Big Apple, the Quarry Tap Room, and most recently, Pine State.

An avid outdoorsman, Ken was at his best in the Maine woods or on the water. He fished throughout every season and hunted every type of game. He was a skilled hunter who once held a Maine state record for a trophy turkey taken with his bow. For many years, he could be found on the weekends in Wiscasset, lobstering from his own small boat – purchased with a lucky scratch ticket win – where he proudly pulled his traps by hand. He also enjoyed playing softball in Augusta for many years and was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.

Ever a green thumb, Ken was a passionate cannabis grower for many decades, and was known to enjoy the fruits of his labor often. In his later years, he found joy at home tending to his garden and numerous bird feeders and their visitors, caring for his cats, and watching his favorite Westerns.

Ken is now reunited with those who went before him: his mother and stepfather, Hilda and Donald Gerrish; his father, Kingston Paul Sr.; and his siblings, Linda Paul, Pam McDonald, and Kingston Paul Jr.

His memory will be carried on by his daughter, Carrie Paul, and her mother, Rita Ladd. He is survived by his sisters, Marsha Smith, Martha Lemar, Shirley Warren, and Cindy Pushard, and their partners; his many nieces and nephews; his close friends Josh and Mariah Morin, who were like family to him; and his good friend and neighbor Melvin Russell.

A celebration of life will be held later in the year. In the meantime, to keep his memory alive, light one up and listen to some classic rock. Arrangements are under the direction of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 1 Church Street, Augusta, ME. Condolences, memories and photos can be shared with the family by visiting the funeral home website http://www.KHRFuneralHomes.com
