Undefeated Scranton took control from the start with a 25-3 run in the first quarter and cruised into the NCAA Division III women’s basketball quarterfinals with a 76-59 win over Bates on Friday night in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Seven players scored in the opening 10 minutes for the Royals (30-0), who forced six turnovers in the first five minutes. Bates (26-4) got no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
Katie Gorski led Scranton with 23 points on 10-for-14 shooting. Kaci Kranson added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Four players scored in double figures for Bates. Elsa Daulerio made 7 of 10 shots and finished with 18 points in her final college game, fellow senior Sophie Spolter had 16 points, and Mya Hicks and Ava James both chipped in with 10.
