Robert E. Dostie Jr.

AUGUSTA -Robert E. Dostie Jr., 70, formerly a long time resident of Hallowell, passed away March 7, 2026. He was born on June 28, 1955, a son of Rita (Kennett) and Robert Dostie Sr..

Following graduation from Cony High School, Bob enlisted in the Army and served honorably for two years. For many years, Bob was employed at Frank Pomerleau’s in Augusta. In addition, he worked in construction and was self-employed as a painter and paper hanger.

In his younger years, Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting. He made time for fun playing horseshoes and camping with his family. Bob enjoyed watching sports and was a huge fan of the Patriots and Red Sox. He was proud to support his step-kids and grandkids sporting events and was often behind the camera filming the games.

Bob had the gift of gab and made friends everywhere he went.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Kim Diehl; and a niece, Carrie Tyler.

Bob is survived by his sister, Cindy Lavallee and her husband Steve; stepchildren: Nick Chabot, Joseph Chabot, Just Chabot, and Benjamin Chabot; grandchildren: Olivia Chabot and Cameron Chabot and their mother Valoree who was like a daughter to Bob; nieces and nephews: Amber Stubbs, Krystal Lavallee, Chelsey Warren, Alex LeClair, and Chad Tobias; great nieces and nephews: Malcolm, Aliyah, Lucas, Kayley, Kayden, Devin and Collin; as well as many other extended family members.

A committal service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 10 a.m., at the chapel at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta, ME 04330. A celebration of life will follow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Manchester Lion’s Club, Clubhouse Rd., Manchester.
