This paper explains that a University of New Hampshire poll weighs heavily in favor of Graham Platner. But more space should have been devoted to the small sample size (462 voters), a fifth of whom identified as socialists.
These results remind us of Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral victory in New York City. He won with 51% of the vote (a victory’s a victory), but he was crushed in independent precincts, as well as those more moderately democratic. Like the great majority of Maine’s population.
