Masashi Wada broke a 1-1 tie in the 76th minute, and Portland Hearts of Pine also got goals from two newcomers as they started their second season in USL League One with a 3-1 victory over the New York Cosmos in Paterson, New Jersey.

Konstantinos Georgallidis, a winger from Cyprus, opened the scoring in the 56th minute with a header from the center of the box. The Cosmos, a new member of USL1, tied it in the 73rd minute on a goal by Darren Sidoel, but Wada put the Hearts back in front with a left-footed shot from near the top of the box after the ball was poked ahead by JayTee Kamara following a corner kick.

Aboubacar Camara made it 3-1 in the 86th minute, running on to a pass from Ollie Wright into the 6-yard box and slipping the ball to the right of Cosmos keeper Tristan Stephani.

Portland next plays the Vermont Green, last year’s USL League Two champion, in the first round of the USL Cup at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Burlington, Vermont.
