The Maine State Legislature is currently considering whether or not to fund LD 814, the Older Mainers Act. This act would provide needed funding for Area Agency on Aging (AAA) services that help older Mainers age safely at home. We are asking all Mainers to support this legislation.
Maine’s AAAs provide programs and services that help older Mainers remain safely at home. Their services are proven to reduce hospitalizations, ER visits and nursing home placements, which significantly reduces long-term care costs to the state.
As the “grayest” state in the nation, our Maine Legislature has a real opportunity to lead the nation in how we support older Mainers. We are asking everyone to add their voice by reaching out to our legislators and requesting they support this bill. Let them know we need a Maine where we can all age at home.
