MT. VERNON – Sandra “Sandy” Poulin, 84, passed away at her son’s home in Mt. Vernon from a chronic lung condition on Feb. 25, 2026.

Sandy was born in Augusta on May 29, 1941, the daughter of Joseph Carey and Lucille (Dulac) Carey. She attended Augusta schools. Sandy worked for many years in Augusta Hospitals (Augusta General and Riverview Psychiatric) as a Certified Nurses Aid and later as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After retiring Sandy returned to work in home health care (Aging Excellence) until her health deteriorated in 2025.

Sandy deeply loved her son, his wife and their four boys. Her second love was animals. She had many dogs, cats, birds and horses to care for over the years. Her love of horses was shared with her cousin Lydia Adelson. She also enjoyed going to lunch and playing cards with her many friends. She always looked forward to spending time with her Carey and Johnson cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband David Poulin, her sister Gail Carey; and three of her children Roxanne Violette, Karen and Mark Roberts.

She is survived by her son Scott Littlefield and his wife Janet and their four sons Evan, Brenden, Kameron and Deklan; her siblings Jacqueline Berry of Bath, Joseph Carey and his wife Rosanne of Augusta; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and Skippy, her beagle companion.
