Drunk on fossil fuels, militarist bravado and Zionist ideology, the U.S. is once again engaged in all-out, illegal and immoral war. The Biden and Trump administrations’ funding Israel’s genocide in Gaza wasn’t enough for warmongers in Washington, D.C.

In just the first two days of attacks on Iran, the U.S. burned through $5.6 billion in munitions, and the first week cost $11.3 billion. There is always money for war, while ordinary Americans struggle for health care, housing and education.

Under international law, Iran is entirely justified in defending itself. United States bases throughout the region are legitimate targets. The Israel-U.S. aggression deliberately targets Iranian and Lebanese civilians, staggering death tolls, mass displacement and widespread ecological destruction be damned.

Are there no red lines? Former President Biden answered that question when he said invading the southern Gaza city of Rafah would be a “red line,” then looked the other way and continued funding the genocide while Israel invaded, expelling refugees en masse, cutting off aid and murdering with impunity. Certainly the Gaza genocide has showed the world that “anything goes” when it comes to Israel and the U.S. inflicting massive suffering.

We can thank Israel and Washington’s war criminals while we pay at the pump. Unless we rise up in protest, we deserve what we get.
