Skowhegan Town Manager Nicholas Nadeau has died, according to a letter from the Skowhegan Select Board sent on Sunday.
“This is a difficult moment for many within Town government and throughout the community,” read the letter addressed to town staff and residents. “We extend our condolences to Mr. Nadeau’s family, friends, colleagues, and all those affected by his passing.”
The Skowhegan town office, which is typically open on Fridays, was closed Friday.
Nadeau began in Skowhegan as an interim town manager in June in a position made permanent a few months later. He held a doctorate of education from Liberty University and previously worked as a town administrator in Blue Hill.
Nadeau also served as the interim town manager for Fairfax, Vermont, from January until October 2025. Fairfax Town Manager Mike Bishop shared in a statement that his contributions were greatly appreciated during that time.
“He and his family are well known in the community, and this news is deeply felt by many,” wrote Bishop.
