There is considerable discussion among the press and other media about how Iran’s leadership might change and what it might mean for that nation.
I believe this is profoundly the wrong question. Rather, Americans should focus on what kind of country has the U.S. become. Leaving aside all the discussion of reasons, or lack thereof, and the personalities which brought our country to this point, the U.S. has started a war in contravention of the United Nations principles. We have supplanted trade discussions with unilateral actions that have disrupted the world economy.
The munitions falling in Iran are not falling on empty spaces or wheat fields, but on facilities with people inside them. Americans need to look at what their country is now and decide if that is where we want to be in the world order.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
