I support Graham Platner because he will fight for the working and middle classes.

I share Platner’s anger and concern that the billionaire class is engaging in a corporate raid of our government, its resources and protections. Under the guise of waste and fraud, the current administration has been cutting every “common good” program it can find: parks, libraries, public education, consumer protection, housing, health care and more.

As a retired public and school librarian, I’ve seen the value of nonprofit programs to a community. The public library is the “poor man’s university,” offering a safe gathering place for all ages, plus online and print resources at no charge. Then there’s the Farm and Sea to School lunch program which provides both nutrition (and education) for children and a market for local farms.

Some people question Platner’s lack of experience in politics. I think his strength lies in caring about what his constituents think and care about. Platner has strong community organizing skills, has networked with grassroots organizations and inspired 12,000 volunteers, young and old, led by a younger generation. He has been questioned by hundreds of Mainers during his town halls. From his years in the military and small business, Platner has the fortitude and experience to stand up to the “same old politics.” He is brave.

Vote for a young, energetic man with a vision for the future that is focused on the heart of our country, the working and middle classes.
