Gerald Armand Joseph Ruel
LAKELAND, Fla. – Gerald Armand Joseph Ruel, 88, of Lakeland, Fla., passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. Born in Waterville, Maine, he was the son of the late Armand and Octavia Ruel.
Gerald dedicated his career to commercial printing and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for four years and was a devoted member of the St. Anthony Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling, and throughout his life he found great pleasure in going to Disney, golfing, dancing, and participating in his bowling league. Gerald was known for his warm sense of humor and his love of laughter, as well as the joy he found in spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 ½ years, Marcella Ruel; his children, Therese (Jay) Wilson, Deborah (Craig) Olmschenk, Jennifer Ruel, and Steve (Susan) Ruel; his cherished grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Danielle, Cole, Eryn, and Olivia; and his 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Patricia (Rodney) Fetz, and Shelly Mullins; along with three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Gerald will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
