Cooper Flagg’s likeness and the Portland Sea Dogs are coming together.
The Red Sox affiliate announced that it will hold a Cooper Flagg bobblehead day on Aug. 12, giving them out to the first 1,000 fans who enter the ballpark.
The bobblehead will feature the Newport native and Dallas Mavericks rookie in his uniform for Maine United, the AAU team he played for with his twin brother, Ace.
“The people of Maine are proud of what Cooper Flagg has accomplished,” Sea Dogs general manager Jesse Scaglion said in a statement provided by the team. “We’re excited to honor him as part of our Notable Mainers series and give fans the chance to take home a unique collectible.”
Flagg is a leading candidate for the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award after being taken first overall by Dallas in the draft. He’s averaging 20.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists through 64 games with the Mavericks, and leads the team in scoring and steals per game (1.2).
