The Maine Mariners rallied from a five-goal deficit to force overtime before losing 6-5 in a shootout against the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday night at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
Maine trailed 5-0 before Brooklyn Kalmikov scored 7:13 into the second period. The Mariners then ran off four goals in the first 10 minutes of the third period and tied the game on a goal by Zach Jordan.
Sebastian Vidmar, Antonio Venuto and Robert Cronin also scored for Maine.
Alex Campbell, Jeremy Hanzel, Kevin O’Neil and Patrick Grasso scored in the first period and Grasso scored again in the third to put Adirondack up 5-0.
