Paul Lussier
WATERVILLE – Paul Lussier, 75, passed from this life into the next on May 28, 2026, at home surrounded by family after a very brief illness.
Born on May 7, 1951, in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of the late Joseph Oscar and Cecile Elie Lussier. The eldest of six children, he experienced the sudden loss of his father at the age of 17.
Paul Lussier lived a life rooted in strong values and principles. In all he did, he strove to be honest and fair, always guided by a commitment to do what was right.
Industrious from a young age, Paul began building houses early in life. He served in the Marine Corps and continued his service in the reserves for several years. As an expert marksman, he also pursued competitive handgun shooting. Over the years, he owned a construction company, operated a small restaurant, and after relocating his family to Maine, started farming. He later transitioned into code enforcement for the towns of Oakland and Waterville and also served as a police officer in Winslow for 20 years.
Creative and resourceful, Paul had a remarkable ability to find practical solutions where others saw obstacles. In later years, he and his wife Christine began developing land in Waterville, creating what is now the thriving Hilltop Drive and Fieldstone Meadows communities–home to nearly 100 residences.
Throughout every stage of his life, Paul remained guided by the same principles: be fair, work hard, create something lasting, and take pride in giving people something meaningful. He consistently sought to be a positive force in the lives of those around him.
Perhaps his greatest act of love was the devotion he showed to his wife after she developed Alzheimer’s nearly five years ago. Paul retired to become her primary caregiver, taking on responsibilities he had never expected and providing her with extraordinary care. His dedication to her was unwavering. He often prayed that he would outlive her, so he could care for her until the end. After her passing in November 2025, Paul began to look forward to his next chapter–focusing on spending time with his children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, cancer took him before this was possible. Paul touched countless lives and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children Joseph Lussier, Timothy Lussier, and Anne Smith and her husband Benjamin; and his grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 2 p.m., at Kennebec Valley Baptist Church, 92 Marston Rd., Waterville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to
