It is a sad day in this so-called democracy when the 100 senators we elected to represent us citizens cannot stand up to a progun lobby, when polls say 90 percent of us want an all-inclusive background check put into effect.
Not only does the NRA say that it won’t contribute to some senator’s or representative’s campaigns, it also threatens to go the senator’s or representative’s state party chairs and ask him to nominate someone (anyone) to run against the incumbent. The NRA will donate enough money to support the alternate candidate. It doesn’t particularly care who opposes the incumbent just as long as the alternate candidate gets elected.
The NRA has some radical ideas about what the intention of the Second Amendment was when added to the Constitution.
I spent my life protecting our Constitution, and I hate to see it being manipulated in this manner.
