Flood warnings for the Kennebec River at Augusta and Skowhegan remained in place Monday, but the river was expected to ebb in the south late Monday, and further north late Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
At 9 a.m. Monday, the Kennebec River was at 12.6 feet in Augusta, where flood stage is 12 feet. In Skowhegan at 8 a.m., flow was at 43,882 cubic feet per second; flood flow is 35,000 cfs.
The river was expected to crest at 12.9 feet in Augusta Monday afternoon, the service stated, and fall below flood levels in the late evening.
Floood flow was expected to subside in Skowhegan on Tuesday afternoon.
