A multi-vehicle crash that forced Biddeford police to close Route 1 in Biddeford near the Arundel town line for nearly two hours sent three people to local hospitals Tuesday evening.

JoAnne Fisk, Biddeford’s deputy police chief, said in an email that the road reopened just before 8 p.m. following the three-vehicle crash that was reported around 6 p.m.

Fisk said there were no fatalities, but two people were taken to Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford and one person was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment.

The extent of their injuries, their names, and their conditions were not immediately available.
