WISCASSET — The second presentation of the Lincoln County Historical Association’s 2019 Winter Lecture Series will commence at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, in the Communications Building at 34 Bath Road.
Author, teacher, historian and re-enactor Michael Dekker will discuss Scots-Irish involvement in our region during the French and Indian War of 1754-63, according to a news release from the association.
During the conflict, Scots-Irish residents of the mid-coast prosecuted a war against their native neighbors while simultaneously defying the government of Massachusetts and its representatives living in their midst.
An avid student of early American history and material culture, Dekker presents educational programs for historical societies, museums, historic sites, schools and the public. He is author of the book “The French and Indian Wars in Maine,” and is a former trustee on the Lincoln County Historical Association and a member of the Boothbay Region Historical Society.
The Lincoln County Historical Association is a nonprofit organization providing stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
Coffee and pastries will be served. Suggested donation is $5.
