WINTHROP — Jillian Schmelzer scored 13 points to lead the Winthrop girls basketball team to a 47-43 win over Madison in Mountain Valley Conference action Monday.
Aaliyah WilsonFalcone added 12 points for Winthrop (15-2).
Katie Worthen scored a game-high 17 points for Madison (5-12) while Abi Spaulding chipped in 12.
BOYS BASKETBALL
MADISON 56, DIRIGO 51: Thomas Dean scored nine of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to help the Bulldogs pull away for the MVC win in Madison.
Eric Wescott scored 17 points for Madison (8-10) while Jacob Meader added 14.
Mateo Lapointe hit six 3-pointers for 18 points to lead Dirigo (7-10).
