WATERVILLE — Paving work on Interstate 95 could cause minor traffic delays through the middle of next week in Waterville and Fairfield.

The Maine Department of Transportation plans to start construction on southbound lanes and the ramps of exits 130, 132 and 133 during the day Sunday. The southbound passing lane of I-95 will be closed for repairs through Wednesday morning and could require “occasional single lane closures on the northbound side,” according to a Thursday news release from the Maine Department of Transportation.
“The work will provide a smoother driving surface and better drainage,” a DOT official wrote.
Pike Industries, of Fairfield, has been contracted to complete the project and will work on the ramps overnight. Construction will start at the southbound exit 133 ramps, which will be closed from 9 p.m. on Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday. Exit 132 ramps on the southbound side will be closed from Monday at 9 p.m. to Tuesday at 6 a.m. The southbound exit 130 ramps will be shut down from Tuesday at 9 a.m. to Wednesday at 6 a.m.
“Motorists should use other exit ramps to enter or exit the interstate during those overnight construction periods,” the department said in the news release.
