MADISON — Residents in School Administrative District 59 approved a $10.2 million budget Tuesday that includes a decrease in the amount of money to be raised by local taxpayers.
The $10,212,036 budget was approved 105–25 in a referendum at the Madison Town Office.
“I just want to thank everyone who came out to support it,” SAD 59 Superintendent Bonnie Levesque said.
The budget includes the addition of a new teaching position at Madison Elementary School and $71,282 in new funding for an alternative education teacher and education technician.
An increase in state funding also allowed the district to decrease the amount of money to be raised by local taxpayers in 2019-2020 by $138,133.
