PORTLAND — The Maine Red Claws were locked into a defensive basketball game for one half Sunday afternoon.

Then the Canton Charge got hot.

The Charge scored 70 points in the second half and routed Maine 108-83, before a sellout Portland Expo crowd of 3,045.

Maine dropped both games to Canton this weekend and fell to 21-20. They are 4-10 in their last 14 games.

The Charge continue to lead the NBA D-League East Division at 24-15.

After leading 39-38 at halftime, the Red Claws could not stop, nor keep up with the Charge. Canton led 76-65 after the third quarter and kept pouring it on.

The Charge hit 12 of 25 3-pointers to Maine’s 3 of 20. Canton also outrebounded the Claw, 40-25.

Chris Wright led the Red Claws with 20 points.

The Red Claws return to the Expo at 7 p.m. Thursday night against Fort Wayne.
