BANGOR — A woman accused of sickening her 7-month-old baby by passing methamphetamine through her breast milk is set to receive drug treatment.

The Bangor Daily News reports 21-year-old Alyssa Murch was admitted to Penobscot Adult Drug Court on Wednesday. She pleaded guilty to unlawfully furnishing a scheduled drug, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawfully operating a methamphetamine lab and violating a condition of release.

She was sentenced to three years imprisonment with all but 76 days suspended, which she has served since her April arrest. She faces two years of probation and three years in prison if she doesn’t complete the drug court program.

Her attorney says Murch is excited to get treatment, turn her life around and be there for her children. Prosecutors say the baby has since recovered.
