BOSTON — A woman accused of killing a 7-year-old Boston girl and seriously injuring her mother while driving drunk has been found guilty of manslaughter while operating under the influence, officials said.
Olivia Mora, 42, was convicted Friday in the 2013 crash that killed Brianna Rosales following a two-week trial, according to a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said Mora’s speeding SUV hit a parked car, jumped a curb, hit a fire hydrant and struck Brianna and her mother.
Brianna was transported to Boston Medical Center where she died of her injuries. Her mother suffered multiple injuries including a shattered left leg bone. She spent months recovering at a hospital.
After the crash, Mora failed a series of field sobriety tests, prosecutors said. A blood test showed that her blood alcohol content was well above the legal limit at the time of the crash.
Mora was indicted on a charge of manslaughter by motor vehicle in Brianna’s death in 2014.
An email seeking comment was sent to Mora’s lawyer Sunday. Mora is scheduled to be sentenced in Suffolk Superior Court on Jan. 6.
