HALLOWELL — Freshman Anthony Brunelle scored twice to lead Cony past Leavitt 5-1 in Eastern A boys hockey action Saturday night.

Dallas Clark added a goal and three assists for Cony (1-0) while Austin Davis and Sean Zubrod also had a goal apiece. Aaron Manter and Spencer Buck chipped in with an assist each. Tom Small made 18 saves.

Jacob Gladu scored for Leavitt (0-1). Nick Allen stopped 25 shots.

Boys basketball

Mountain Valley 50, Winthrop 43: Ryan Nichols scored 14 points as the Falcons beat the Ramblers in a Mountain Valley Conference game Friday night in Rumford.

Jake Theriault added 10 points for Mountain Valley (1-0).

Taylor Morang led all scorers with 15 points for Winthrop (0-1).
