SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Crysti Tsujiura scored a goal and added an assist to lead Colby to a 2-1 win against Tufts in New England Small College Athletic Conference women’s soccer action Saturday.

Colby scored first when junior Annie Papadellis broke through the middle of the field, took a pass from Tsujiura and drilled a shot to the right cormer. Tsujiura made it 2-0 late in the second half after taking a pass from Kate Laxson and putting a shot into the right corner of the goal. Tufts scored on a penalty kick six minutes later.

Kristin Wright made three saves for Tufts (1-3-1, 0-3 NESCAC) while Emily Brooke made five for Colby (4-1, 2-10).

UM-Farmington 2, Lyndon State 1: Senior Logan Faulkingham scored in the 84th minute to lift the Beavers to a North Atlantic Conference win in Farmington.

Faulkingham buried a long ball that was misplayed for her first goal since her freshman season for UMF (4-2-0, 2-0-0). Emily Strese tied the game at 1 with a goal in the 55th minute for Lyndon State (2-5-0, 0-2-0). Alida Peake scored the first goal of the game for UMF.

Men’s soccer

Lyndon State 5, UM-Farmington 2: In Farmington, Patrice Lumumba scored two goals to lead the visitors to the NAC win. Uriah Forrest-Bully and Austin Dooley scored for the Beavers. Paul Dupre made three saves for UMF (1-6, 0-1) while Jason Gray made two for Lyndon Satte (2-5, 1-0).

Tufts 0, Colby 0, 2OT: The Mules earned a hard-fought tie with the Jumbos in Somerville, Mass. Sophomore Corey Funkhouser had three saves for Colby (0-2-2, 0-1-2). Wyatt Zeller made two saves for Tufts (4-0-1, 2-0-1).

Cross country

Williams College Invitational: Eva Lauer finished 20th as the Mules finished 10th of 17 teams in Williamstown, Mass. Lauer finished the 6-kilometer course in 23:14. Berol Dewdney was 59th in 24:04 and Kate Connolly finished 61st in 24:05. The Colby men had two runners in the top 50 and finished eighth of 17 teams. Ben Desmond finished 37th in a time of 27:25 over the 8-kilometer race. Jeff Hale of Waterville was Colby’s No. 2 finisher, coming in 47th with a time of 27:49.

Field hockey

Tufts 3, Colby 2: Emily Cannon scored two goals to lead the Jumbos to the NESCAC win in Medford, Mass. Ellie Donohue and Kaitlyn O’Connell scored for Colby while Megan Fortier recorded an assist. Michelle Burt made 15 saves in goal for Colby (2-3, 0-3). Tufts is 4-1, 2-1.

UM-Farmington 6, Simmons 4: Lily Barry scored two goals to lead the Beavers to the NAC win in Boston. Annie Agnew and Gardiner graduate Kashley Weymouth added first-half goals for UMF while Mt. Blue grad Kaitlyn Bullen scored in the second half. Tenna Smith made 15 saves in goal for Simmons while Curran Brierley made two stops for UMF (2-3, 2-0).

 

Volleyball

Colby splits: Colby College head coach Candice Parent won her 300th career victory after the Mules downed Smith 3-0, but the day ended with a 3-2 loss to Endicott in the MIT Invitational in Beverly, Mass. Maggie Taylor had 10 kills, nine digs and two aces for Colby against Smith while Kim Donaldson had eight killls and six aces. Lily Kramlich-Taylor added seven kills, Kate Pleasants dished 34 assists and senior co-captain Emily Varni had 16 digs.

Against Endicott, Natalie Roy finished with 12 kills, 22 digs and three aces. Varni had five aces and 29 digs, Pleasants had 50 assists and 14 digs, Kramlich-Taylor tied Roy with 12 kills, Taylor had 10 kills, 24 digs and three aces.

Also Saturday: Cony High School graduate Brittany Ford had a goal and an assist as the Stonehill College field hockey team beat Saint Michael’s College 3-0 in Easton, Mass. … Messalonskee grad Hannah Thornberg scored two goals as Endicott field hockey defeated Salve Regina, 6-2.
