PITTSFIELD — Don Camp had two hits and an RBI to support a strong performance from Logan Hewes as the Winslow High School baseball team edged Maine Central Institute 6-4 on Friday afternoon.

Camp had a double and a single for the Raiders (1-1).

Hewes struck out three and didn’t walk a batter in a complete-game performance. Dylan Hapworth tripled and Mike McLaughlin had two singles for Winslow.

Ethan Duplisea had a double to pace MCI (0-2).

Waterville 10, Mt. View 2: A.J. Godin turned in a strong performance in his varsity debut, and the Purple Panthers broke open a 2-2 game with a five-run fifth to earn the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win.

Godin, a freshman, struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter in six innings. He allowed four hits.

Dan Pooler added a two-run single for Waterville (2-0).

Ricky Moulton and Tyler McCormick had RBI doubles for the Mustangs (0-2).

Mt. Blue 7, Mt. Ararat 5: Bradley Jackson and Jordan Whitney each drove in a pair of runs in a six-run third inning to lead the Cougars in Topsham.

Cam Abbott pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Whitney to earn the victory. He struck out nine and allowed just two hits.

Andrew Pratt also had an RBI single for Mt. Blue (1-1), which trailed 5-1 before scoring six in the third.

Trent Charnock had a double for the Eagles (1-1).

Oxford Hills 6, Skowhegan 2: Six Skowhegan errors led to six unearned runs for Oxford Hills, which took the season opener for both teams.

Ty Martin had two hits, including a double, for Oxford Hills (1-0). Dalton Rice struck out five for the win.

Trevor Hisler had two doubles for Skowhegan (0-1). Isaac Wacome and John Swett each had two hits for the Indians.

Lewiston 9, Messalonskee 2: Chris Bowen had a double and drove in two runs to lead the Blue Devils in Lewiston.

Luke Cote earned the victory, striking out eight in five innings.

Sam Dexter had two triples and a single to lead the Eagles (1-1).

Softball

Waterville 4, Mt. View 2: Grace Gould and Nicole Martin scored in the sixth inning as the Panthers beat the Mustangs in a KVAC B game in Waterville.

Morgan Pellerin and Kendra Johnson both scored in the first inning as Waterville (1-1) took a 2-1 lead. Mt. View (0-2) tied it when Kersey Bouley scored in the top of the sixth.

Allie Forkey earned the win for the Panthers, allowing one earned run on five hits, while walking four and striking out seven.

Messalonskee 20, Lewiston 3, 5 innings: Emily York, Courtney Veilleux and Necole Harrison each homered to lead the Eagles in Lewiston.

York and Veilleux each went 4 for 5. Harrison also doubled for Messalonskee (2-0).

Jordan Roy had three hits and Bri Garland added a two hits for Messalonskee.

Lewiston, which had just three hits, dropped to 0-2.

Oxford Hills 11, Skowhegan 3: Winning pitcher Ashley West had three hits and an RBI to lead the Vikings in the season opener for both teams.

Brianna Martin had four hits and three RBIs for Oxford Hills (1-0).

Amanda Johnson had a triple for Skowhegan, which had 14 hits but left 14 runners on base.

Winslow 4, MCI 1: Three different Winslow players had multiple hits as the Black Raiders defeated the Huskies in Pittsfield.

The two teams combined for 18 hits, including four doubles and a triple. Allison Leclair, Jen Poulin and Jessica Pare each had two hits for Winslow (2-0).

Carolyn Newhouse singled twice for MCI (0-2).

Mt. Blue 12, Mt. Ararat 8: The Cougars scored 12 runs in the first four innings on their way to a KVAC A win in Topsham.

Lexi Howard struck out 13 for Mt. Blue. In the first four innings, Addie Brinkman had three hits and scored twice, while Kristen Brown and Abbey Ellis each scored three times.
