Christian Wayne Ault

WAYNE – Christian Wayne Ault, 61, of Wayne, left us on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021.

He was born in Seattle on August 26, 1959, the son of David and Maja Ault.

Coming to Maine in 1966, Chris attended Hilltop School in Waterville for six years and then joined the Uplift organization in Winthrop and Gardiner. He was instrumental in passage of the law requiring education for exceptional children, working with his Dad and Senator Bennett Katz.

Chris loved music and dancing, and like other men in his family he had a fondness for boats, motorcycles and vintage cars. He had a great sense of humor and brought delight to the many people that he met. Due to this he inspired a few of his generation to enter the field of special education.

He is survived by his father, David Ault of Wayne, mother, Maja Ault of Kennebunk; his two sisters, Kate Abbruzzese of Turner and Leslie Manning of San Mateo, Calif.; his close friend and stepmother, Norine Jewell of Wayne; and many nieces, nephews; grandnephews; and cousins.

Thanks from the family go to nurses Mo and Cindy, to Andro Hospice, to Jason and his devoted crew at Uplift, as well as to Heather, Amy, George and so many other caring friends of Chrissie’s over the years. Also to Kelly Minoty, who was there when Chris needed her.

A family celebration of life will take place this summer with chocolate ice cream.

Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop where memories, condolences and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of our website at http://www.familyfirstfh.com.

Donations may be made to Maine Special Olympics or Uplift of Gardiner.
