KEENE, N.H. — A New Hampshire man who was inside the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 siege and gave an account to a television station is accused of taking a book from the U.S. Senate and a bottle of wine from an office.

Daniel Riddle, 32, of Keene, was arrested Monday on a warrant issued from Washington, D.C., charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; theft of government property; and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

An affidavit says Riddle admitted he took the wine and a leather-bound book titled “Senate Procedure.” He said he sold the book to someone for $40.

Riddle had given a news media interview saying he entered the U.S. Capitol and saw people smashing computers and other equipment. He also provided the station a photo of himself inside a lawmaker’s office, holding the bottle of wine, the affidavit said. When asked why he went into the building, Riddle said “I just had to see it,” and that he didn’t regret being there.

It wasn’t immediately known if Riddle had a lawyer. A phone number couldn’t be found for him.
