The proposed law now being considered would require all motor vehicles to be free of snow on top as well as windows (“Maine lawmaker wants drivers to clear snow, ice off vehicles,” Feb. 20). This should include trailer trucks.
I followed a truck recently heading south on Route 201. The snow blowing off the trailer made driving more difficult than any snow storm.
Just beyond the Skowhegan town line there is a turnout where another truck was parked. The operator of that truck was on the roof of the trailer clearing it off. What a contrast between operators of similar vehicles.
This law, when passed, should solve the problem, not just part of it.
